The Suburban Sharks is a competitive youth swim team that participates in the Metro West Winter and Summer Swim League.
The team is made up of about 75 children from Framingham and the surrounding communities. The season begins in September and runs through the Championship Meet at Boston University the first weekend in March. The Summer season runs from the beginning of June until the first weekend in August when the summer Championship meet is held.
The two leagues are made up of 8-12 teams. The team practices on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons (4:00-7:30pm) and Saturday mornings (8:00am-9:00am). The team is broken down into four age groups for these practices. The Sand Sharks, Tiger Sharks, Blue Sharks 1 and Blue Sharks 2. Only the Tiger and Blue 1 and Blue 2 groups practice on Saturday morning.
We are starting a NEW AAU swim team that will meet on Sunday afternoons. Please contact John Barrett for more info. 508-879-6544.
During practice, the team works on conditioning, stroke work, starts and turns to prepare them for competition.
Sportsmanship, respect for your team, your teammates and your opponents as well understanding and appreciating the role swimming can play in developing lifelong good fitness and wellness habits. Also, several team activities are held away from the pool throughout the season.
Parental support for the team is critical, parents are needed to volunteer in a number of different capacities throughout the season.
